About IDPhotoPal

IDPhotoPal helps you make a passport photo at home and check it against the rules each government publishes, before you pay for anything or stand in line. It is an independent service, not a government website, and isn't connected to any passport office.

What we do

• Crop your photo to the exact size for a US passport, an Indian passport or an OCI card, and make a digital file and a 4x6 print sheet.
• Check any photo for free against the published rules: head size, tilt, eyes, expression, light, background and sharpness.
• For the UK and Canada, check a photo without changing it, because their rules don't allow cropped or edited photos.
• Link every rule to the government page it comes from, with the date we last read it. See how we check the rules.

What we don't do

• We never see your photo. It's checked in your browser; a photo sent from your phone is encrypted so only your computer can open it.
• We don't retouch faces or replace backgrounds: the countries we cover reject edited photos.
• We can't promise a passport office will accept a photo. Only they decide.
